They tell you not to kick anyone on your way up because you might meet them on the way down. I guess we saved a lot of kicks for the way down.
I think at a minimum the next Democratic candidate for president will have to pledge to undo as much of what Trump’s done as possible. Bonus points for letting other countries know we’re cool with him being tried for war crimes and human rights violations.

I like to think that the Founding Fathers’ biggest issue with Clarence Thomas would not be his race.

Wouldn’t what we’re doing in the Caribbean also be considered piracy? I think the requirement of “personal gain” is met by his desire to get his hands on Venezuela’s oil reserves.
The penalty for that is life in prison. And coincidentally, Somalia is also a haven for pirates.

What if Republicans know more about Trump’s health than the rest of us do? It’s hard to imagine that they don’t.
Knowing that his exit will come sooner rather than later would certainly explain their sudden willingness to stand up to him.
I’m going to watch how they treat Vance from now on.

I’m not surprised that he has to invent perks to get a girlfriend. I’m stunned that she would just accept this. How much of an ego do you have to have to not say “I don’t think this would be a good look for either of us”?

Trump just said his grotesque ballroom “won’t touch” the White House. That’s what he said about the East Wing.
Isn’t there someone left in the government who can stop him? If not him, can the construction company be enjoined from further unlawfully defiling the People’s House? Who has standing here?

Clark Construction is the lead contractor.
AECOM is the engineering firm.
McCrery are the architects.

It’s nice to see a little self-awareness among his supporters.

I told my husband we got a letter from a recent widow, as I handed him this.
I have no idea how we got onto EriKa KirK’s mailing list.
Is it just me, or are the Ks in her last name goose stepping?

What does it say about a group of people that they refer to victims of child sex trafficking as “underage women” and full-grown adults in leadership positions engaging in vile, racist, misogynist, homophobic speech as “young boys”.

If Trump wants to declare U.S. citizens to be domestic terrorists, why not start with this crew?

Don’t Let Trump’s Henchmen Rewrite History. They’re the Ones Inciting Violence.
A brief catalogue of the times Republicans have called for brutal repression makes clear that Trump, not the left, is tearing apart the country.

From the little I’ve seen of Trump’s blathering at the UN today, I imagine more than 1 delegation thought their translator was stroking out.

@maddow.msnbc.com I think I know why Trump is dismantling cancer research. Two words: Cancer Moonshot. Biden did it, so he has to undo it. I don’t think there’s anything more to it than that.
This really is his vengeance tour, and he will destroy everything to erase those who displeased him.

Thank you @onthemedia.bsky.social for your report on #CharlieKirk just now. It was honest without being brutal. One might even call it “fair and balanced.”

Why does everyone seem to be accepting without question the massive downward revision in previous jobs numbers?
He puts a flunky in charge of BLS, where many senior positions are vacant, and bam! The very next report is a loss of 911K jobs going back over a year. But no one questions the data.

Why does Alexa keep inviting me to “chat about anything”, yet when I ask her why she thinks Jeff Bezos is exerting editorial control over The Washington Post when he promised he wouldn’t, she says she doesn’t talk politics?

If I were Ghislane Maxwell, I’d be very worried that I might also “commit suicide” now that they’ve got her on record proclaiming Trump’s “perfect gentleman” behavior.
What would otherwise be hearsay could become admissible if she were to become permanently unavailable to testify.

Something has bothered me ever since I first heard the story about Epstein telling Trump “No, no. She’s not here for you.”
Exactly what kind of a creep do you have to be for Epstein to be like “Dude! Leave that girl alone!”?
August 3, 2025 at 6:05 AM
I would like to know how many times the names Clinton and Obama came up in Blanche’s “questioning” of Maxwell today. Not how many times she said them. How many times he did.
July 24, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Here’s why I don’t think they’ll get anywhere with Maxwell:
Their only real leverage is a pardon. If she’s pardoned now, it will have the exact opposite of the intended result.
For all her many failings as a person, she’s not stupid. She knows exactly what a promise from Trump is worth.

CNBC gave me the most fitting way to observe the 4th: binge watch “American Greed”.

I used to enjoy the freak outs when NPR posted the Declaration of Independence in 140 character tweets. I wonder if they’re still allowed to do that.

Is anyone else kind of looking forward to seeing who emerges as the next “Leader of the Free World”? I hope they do a better job of it.
July 3, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Trump called the mostly peaceful L.A. protesters “insurrectionists”. Does this mean he’s going to pardon them and give them millions of dollars?
