Three of my neighbors in district 1 were killed in three separate car collisions last night. We need action now to reduce pedestrian and cyclist deaths.

YOU need to do more to improve your own driving. Do better. Keep your neighbors alive.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I was honored to bring a recognition to council this morning.

Breast cancer isn't the death sentence it was decades ago, but if folks can't access screening, prevention, or treatment, it doesn't matter how much the science has advanced.

Go get screened!

When you're asked by your grandchildren what you did when tyranny came to Portland, you need to be proud of the answer. Show up, stay peaceful, stay safe, and stand up for Portland.

I got to give the welcoming remarks at the AARP Age Friendly Oregon Summit, held at Portland State University.

I'm excited to continue the work that was last championed by my boss Com. Nick Fish

Portland has spent billions on housing, with very little to show for it. Let's stop reinventing the wheel and instead learn from the successes and failures of other cities around the world to create something that actually works for Portland.

9) On Friday morning I joing Mult Co Chair Jessica Vega Pederson and State Rep Thuy Tran volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, "helping" build permanently affordable family-sized homes. I love swinging a hammer, but I'm definitely an amateur, and glad there are pros building the homes we need!

9) I visited Norm Eder, who's encore-career as a music photographer has put Portland's incredible music scene on full display!

As part of his work with the Jeremy Wilson Foundation, he took my portrait as the 451st musician in his series! Thanks Norm!

7) I stood in solidarity with the healthcare workers and nurses of OFNHP in their effort for a fair contract.

Kaiser, your workers are the only good thing in the healthcare system. They deserve a good contract, fair wages, safe staffing levels, and paid time off! @ofnhp.bsky.social

My statement on the death of Damon Lamar Johnson at the hands of Portland Police officers. This was not a tragic accident. It was a complete systemic failure.

I was traveling this week, and I'm taking the next few days to head to the deep dark woods with my dog, so no top ten this week. But instead please enjoy this little travel video I made.

10) this Sunday please come see a free screening of the film The Day The Music Stopped, about how Nashville is rapidly losing it's famous music scene, and what happens when COVID, corporate consolidation, and a lack of prioritization by elected leaders is killing this industry. Come join us!

6) Mayor Wilson released his budget, and we held our first official budget hearing. He did a great job, and this is a really great starting point. Here are my remarks:

4) My Fair Wage policy got it's first reading before the full City Council! It'll get a final vote in two weeks.

The City's "fair wage" policy was on the books for decades, but it was removed as part of a code cleanup last year. I wanna put it back.

Thanks to SEIU for noticing it was removed!

1) D1 deserves a district office but we're not spending $1.2M on a new office build out. This was the top end of a highly speculative quote from Facilities. This money is coming from our current City Council office budgets. Some Councilors are hiring more staff, I'm doing what was promised to voters

Legit lol at this note from Lizzie Acker at the Oregonian.

America will never have a king. Thank you East Portland Indivisible for letting me close out the speeches this morning, and to the hundreds of East Portland neighbors who showed up to demonstrate what Portland is really about.

Congratulations @councilormorillo.bsky.social for a successful committee vote on your bill to ban algorithmic price fixing software in the rental housing market. Here are my remarks, edited to fit the 3min time limit on bluesky. Watch the full hearing here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WKq...

6) Honored to join Gov Kotek, Mayor Wilson, and fellow Councilors in the inaugural Multifamily Housing Development Workgroup. I hope to get some tangible steps to help spur new multifamily housing development. Lots of external forces out of our control, but there's still more we can do here locally.
