Jason Coulls. Toronto. British. Serial CTO, dad of twins, ex-C4ISR, ex-iHeartRadio iOS. Locksport. Bread baking. Tweets my own, not employers. Kylie/Debhead. Been here since practically day one, but I’m too boring for most. Has a habit of geek diving.
My take: it’s laziness.

Then again, I’m usually happy with fact. Some hear fact and put energy into to disputing it.

Maybe we’re both the problem.

A phrase I love (it can be used for good or as a weapon) in this case meaning well, “I defer to your expertise on the matter”.

Seriously, I wasn’t there, so I defer. 🤣

It always feels like he’s handed a perfect deck of cards and it should be a cakewalk, yet still there’s problems.

After the palisades fires, it looked like he was stepping up, then I guess he stepped down again.

So. Maybe 2026 is the year I offload a few lb of silver, but even if I did - it’d most likely be to play the Gold Silver Ratio “GSR” as generally there’s no reason to hold cash, and every year that passes just shows that more and more.

It’s own stuff that can be converted to cash in a pinch.

Between their current age and them hitting 20, this cycle will happen again.

It always does. Every 7 years. And every couple of those it gets worse still.
December 30, 2025 at 2:26 AM
This year, as teens, they got no silver.

Such is bubbles. You don’t buy high to sell low.

Meanwhile, both kids are sitting on about $1000 of past Christmas profits if they offloaded.

And I’ve not advocated for that.
December 30, 2025 at 2:24 AM
I’ve mentioned in previous years that every Christmas I buy an ounce of silver per kid as a stocking stuffer.

The rule was “never the same country twice”. So, silver eagles, maples, krugerrands, philharmonics, etc. generally $20-40.

I’ve contemplated offloading some. But I don’t think it’s at its high yet.

The issue is this: The “heart attack” metal also comes from swings. If you imagine gold and silver prices had an elastic band on them, gold goes up and puts tension on it, then silver catapults up past it in percentages.

Just for reference, this is the chart right now.
December 30, 2025 at 2:14 AM
But it’s funny, the news is always “gloom and doom”.
December 30, 2025 at 2:13 AM
In 2024, stuff started getting twitchy. It does from time to time.

Some friends sitting on silver were asking if I’d buy it from them. I’d not take it. I don’t want to be the person who took their silver at $50/oz.

That silver is now like 100CAD/oz. I think I did the right thing for them.
December 30, 2025 at 2:12 AM
But, I like my silver.

Some people call it “the heart attack metal”. I get that - if you’re watching every swing in price and wondering when the optimum time to get out is, then it’ll drive ya bonkers.

Or you could just say “I’m willing to sit on this for a bit” and check in once a month as I do.
December 30, 2025 at 2:07 AM
I’m not a doomsayer, or a prepper (in the traditional sense), I just look at the games people play (most people chase gold) and then I choose my own path.

I am perfectly fine doing “long game” stuff over “short and quick” game stuff.

If you know me, you know I’m a fan of silver.

If you don’t know me, you already know one thing.

For me, it’s always about the album “Auberge”

Further “Gone Fishing” is like the song that explains me.
December 23, 2025 at 1:30 AM
He’s known for far more than that one song.
December 23, 2025 at 1:26 AM
The Christmas thing is totally coincidental.
December 23, 2025 at 1:24 AM
On the one hand, I’m shocked it happened on a Christmas week.

On one hand I’m not shocked.

Expats (at least this one) are like …
So sports? Acting? Journalism?

And simultaneously like I’m at 50/50 in the country vs out, but wait, there’s an almost hockey curve on “got it… got it… got it … got it… kinda got it… what?”
