Huge fan! I got to see them a few times, including in Boston right when “Cure For Pain” was breaking locally.
Despite lots of soundtrack placements (including The Sopranos) they never had a hit, so remain below the radar.

FWIW, verse-verse-verse etc is the most common form in the Child Ballads, and the body of music that Americans made from it. Many Dylan songs are in that form. You can achieve real drama with a bunch of verses that are well-written and powerfully performed.

Just an unsolicited opinion but imo if you see a neighbor left their key in the door, it’s an “alert them immediately” situation, and your neighbors were being kind and showing concern by scaring the shit out of you with an early knock.

Ideally, some new info can emerge that isn’t necessarily a “twist” but which causes the viewer to have a surprising new take or understanding of what they just saw, in a way relating to the themes. But “I’m just not going to tell you what’s happening in this inexplicable sequence” isn’t really that
