Let me tell you, our officially-not-an-X-ray-telescope #ESAEuclid did notice this flare. Very much so. A gazillion cosmic ray hits, plus a shadow of hardware where the instruments aren't fully X-ray shielded.
I mean this was the 39th (?) strongest flare in 30 years.

This is now a THIRD coronal mass ejection that will be sending lots of stuff towards Earth, so the geomagnetic activity over next few nights might be *very good*
Class G4 events!
The Sun God, Ra, is shouty.

Heads up, folks!
Two Earth-directed coronal mass ejections from the Sun are expected to arrive tonight(ish) and predicted to hit Class-G4 tomorrow evening, thanks to an X1.2 flare unleashed by the AR4274 region on Sol.
Thanks to Earth's magnetic field we'll be safe.
But there might be .. AURORAS!

Naaaaa that would fuck a lot of things up, sadly. The good things and the horrible things.
Never fuck with things from space is my motto. Everything up there wants to kill us. Even space itself.

oh man, that would have been awesome. Can't imagine the anticipation and buzz.
I recall my mum not letting me watch it at first, and all of my older cousins all going on about it for weeks.
Then I watched it and it was the greatest thing I saw for pretty much all of my childhood! Best!

If you need a refresher on the 14-min wonderful piece of art that still echoes through time today, leaving its mark throughout pop culture, here it is in 4K.
Director John Landis, who co-wrote it with Jackson, really made magic with this.
So good, even over four decades later!
