Pregnancy is a promise that you make not only to yourself, but to your unborn child, and a big part of that is just carving out time and space not only in your life, but in your heart, and when that promise is broken, and that child is gone, that time and space doesn't just fill itself in overnight.  Rehearsals have resumed, but they lack purpose and direction; we know our blocking but have forgotten our motivation. As we walk around the stage, the audience long gone and hoping for a rain check, we feel so much smaller, and our footsteps echo back to us through an otherwise empty theater, the ghostly reverberations of a life we thought we'd have.
