We’ve been watching a lot of Dropout content, and I have come to the conclusion that Katie Marovitch has the vibe of the “smart” sister in a Jane Austen novel who has somehow ended up on this show and is just rolling with it. (Complimentary.)

Today is a good day to brush up on/ learn about Japanese-American internment during WWII. Two HS/MS age appropriate books I recommend are Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston(a bit older- I read it in HS) and When the Emperor was Divine by Julie Otsuka.
I went to post about the National Japanese American Memorial in D.C., which is beautiful but usually missed by tourists. It is a deeply staggering admission of guilt and a warning to future Americans. I went to link to the inscriptions and-

Well, they took the site down. www.nps.gov/places/japan...

Crowdsourced reports of ICE raids. Zoomed in to my own city and found several sightings (not 100% confirmed, but there is moderation of submissions here). Be safe, friends.

Did you miss your chance to take to the stars?

We're still accepting late pledges for Starscape, a sci-fi #ttrpg about journeying through space, bonding through adversity, and becoming a found-family.

At the beginning of our final, I asked students to use an anonymous “short answer” poll site to recognize one member of the class BY NAME who had helped them. Then, I displayed the responses to the class The responses had such kindness and appreciation in them, and it was such a great way to end.

I love my community comic book shop d&d game so much. Today, I got to successfully use Hellish Rebuke as a Warlock for the first time as a player, and it was fun as heck. If you’re in Ventura County, Arsenal Comics & Games is a gem.

Every year, Orbit does a “try out new authors” ebook sale. I always grab anything that looks even halfway interesting, and I have found some GEMS.

There are some awesome looking stories this year, but most looking forward to These Deathless Shores.

On the last regular day of a hard semester, it brought me joy to sit in a room with my last workshop group of student writers of speculative fiction. They took each others' work seriously, gave great feedback, and engaged in lively discussion. I was honored to be there.
