114 years ago today, 129 women and 17 men, mostly Jewish immigrants, perished in a disastrous fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in NYC. I wrote this song imagining the perspective of someone who would have had reason to be nearby when these events happened.

When our kids were small, we did a science project, rooting the top of a grocery pineapple in water, then planting it in dirt. We got years of thriving greens, and then a baby pineapple! We rooted the top of of that -- and so on and so on. In short: We are the finest pineapple farmers in Roswell, GA

The government's attacks on diversity, equity and inclusion are making me feel grateful that my high school taught Kurt Vonnegut's collection, Welcome to the Monkey House, which included the story, "Harrison Bergeron." which for some reason is top of mind right now.
