I think post-election and this shooting something's become more clear to me: this country is trending fascist and racist, yes, absolutely. But the driving force is oligarchy.
And weirdly, I find that kind of comforting, because we are clearly more able to be united around class than human decency.

I think the thing that’s really striking to me about this slide into authoritarianism is the number of politicians that don’t agree with it but support it because they value power over democracy. Puts a lot of history into context.
