Some random moron
Bumbling around the internet
Asking about mandolins
Considering your youtube videos helped me decide to buy an EV, which was a really great decision, it’s nice to know you have not terrible politics.

Hurray.

Point of order : she didn’t successfully block ANY doors. She was just awkwardly attached to the handle of some double doors and people could still come in and out.

Then those are good starters, I just wanted to cover in case you didn’t like bluegrass.

There’s also a mandolin-learner discord. It’s a quiet (and inclusive) space for people to swap technique and stuff. They do a tune of the month thing and are incredibly kind and helpful. discord.gg/mandolin

I have to give that clarification literally weekly.

Also they’re roughly the same amount of harmful to your fingers.

Mandolessons.com and David Benedict’s channel on youtube are the big ones to start. There are tons more, but there are so many I’d want specifics about what you want so I don’t firehose resources at you.

Feel free to contact me about any questions. I’m super big into getting people into it.

And I grew up listening to Nickel Creek and Sam Bush. But right around the 200th person who I had to explain what my instrument even is to, and how distinct it is from a Neapolitan/bowlback, I had to admit maybe we’re the minority.

Maybe getting a hurdy gurdy will solve this…

Deffo mountain dulcimer. They own and you can get them as a kit for like 80 bucks. Had my eye on that for a while.

Obvious bias, but consider a mando : they’re rough on your hand but very flexible and you can play scary fast pretty easy. Does cool music theory things too.

Hammer or mountain? I.e. do you hit the strings with little mallets like a weird harp, or do you have a pick and it sits on your lap. Both are dope.

Also it’s never too late! I’m in my mid 30’s and went from “lol idiot” to “semi competent amateur bluegrass player” in just a couple years.

As a new EV owner it’s so hard not to come off as a zealot. I just really like my little Chevy Bolt! It was so cheap (seriously, $10k used after the credit for a car with 6k miles) and it zooms around super fast and I just plug it into the house.

I usually hate cars too.

The mandolin community is actually growing and improving in a bunch of cool ways. The pandemic and the rise of the modern internet (e.g. youtube) has really helped people get into more obscure instruments.

Doesn’t offset the Nazis or nothing, but mandolins are pretty cool.

The guns are from the 18th century, in keeping with the history and tradition of the founders.

Wow a lot of anti-30 Years War people here.

Probably Protestants.

The number of times some guy in polarized sunglasses has EV-splained that my car can’t do a thing it does every day is staggering.
