We train women and men to serve as priests in the Church of England, to proclaim the Good News of Christ and celebrate the sacraments. We share our grounds and our prayers with the monks of the Community of the Resurrection.

I was at Manchester Cathedral today for a round table discussion on poverty - part of this year’s events marking 40 years since the Church’s landmark Faith in the City report. Its call to action remains as urgent as ever — to build a bold vision and a clear plan to end poverty.

Earlier today staff and students marked Armistice Day by pausing for a short act of remembrance at 11, praying for the peace of the world and for the repose of the souls of all those of this and every nation killed in armed conflict.

Every week, the brethren of the Community have a gardening afternoon, and students and others are welcome to join. Here’s a mixture of ordinands and monks enjoying the fresh air and honest toil that help keep our grounds beautiful.

We often send students on placement to the Crypt (and have again this year). It does wonderful work and we give thanks for them!
At St Georges Leeds this morning to commission staff and volunteers from St George's Crypt at this year’s Crypt Sunday service.

It’s a privilege to commission those who serve at St George’s Crypt, who continue their work of welcome and compassion in the heart of Leeds.

On Thursday afternoons instead of evening prayer with the Brethren of CR, there is a student led service, which can take any form they choose. Tonight we had a beautiful time of prayer after the customs of Taizé.

Happy feast of Simon and Jude! This is the college’s Foundation Day, so a special occasion for us. We like to think that the most obscure of the apostles are perfect patrons for a college that’s always focussed on producing priests who serve parish and people.

More on Paulinus on this, his feast.
This is the feast of Paulinus, Bishop of York, d. 644. 🕯️ Though the extensive Paulinus material is in Bede, I realized we've never looked at the sole surviving MS of the Anonymous of Whitby's Life of Gregory the Great, St. Gall 567. Here's the passage about the baptism of Edwin from that text.

Today the Church celebrates St Paulinus, who came from Rome as a missionary to the North of England from Rome. He’s literally close to us in Mirfield, as he founded Dewsbury Minster, just along the valley from us, and brought the Christian faith to this place.
