If you're familiar with civ games, a good number of the actions are all civ-style: add people/move people in map, generate/collect resources, explore unexplored areas, build buildings on the map, a bunch are related to playing one of the five types of cards. Almost all are really simple

I guess to go a little further, it's not crazy hard to play, but it's most definitely not easy to play *well*

It really is. It's a lot, but it all makes sense.
It uses a similar dice mechanic to choose your action. You start with 6 dice and each turn you use two of them to pick one of the actions. There's a lot of choices, but you're constrained by your dice and limited way to change the values.

Same. I've become both a digital and irl hermit.

And once again, the shame for my state deepens.

I haven't seen him in person since, just social media posts. But he looks like he's got his mom's fire in him. So I have some hope that he's able to make his way through this. But he shouldn't have to.

Sorry, just needed to express. Apologies for all the replies.

I met Amber at Origins with Ruth. Somehow Ruth was going to play or was already playing a game at the Hyatt when Amber and her son came up. They offered to let her play and I offered to watch her son. He was a baby, so I held him and we walked around and looked at all the decorations on the wall.

I've had a shit week. I'm down to my last few spoons. And then this news hit. And I'm sad. And I'm pissed off. And nothing matters and everything matters. And I keep thinking about her son. And how he will or won't be able to process this. And it guts me to the core. And I just want to give him a hug

Congrats on a good con. Hachette has been on fire lately.

Harmonies is growing on me slowly, but I'm not sure I need to own it which says a lot for me.

Cascadia R&W's are pretty great. First maps are a little weak, but the later ones ramp things up. They've come up with a really neat system and I'm curious to see where they go with it.

The combination of my local coffee shop shutting down, not going to cons for almost 5 years, leaving the blue bird, and changing jobs, it's like a part of my life died. I still follow and buy games but they just pile up in my hermit apartment. I get to play a couple every other month or so. It sucks
