I’m a high school biology teacher who 3D prints bones/fossils in my free time
Instagram got a flying torso, you all get a headless flying pterosaur. Tupandactylus is almost done! #pterosaur #skeleton #3dprint

The lighting isn’t great due to the weather but I’m too excited to not share this: my #Tupandactylus skeleton articulated fully for the first time! Now to get it into the air… #pterosaur #fossilfriday #skeleton #3dprint

A fun observation I made while working on Tupandactylus: the head, neck, torso, and phalange 1 of digit 4 (the first bone of the wing finger) are all approximately the same length. #Pterosaurs have such weird proportions.

I spent most of the day working on my Tupandactylus skeleton and can now estimate how wide it’ll be with the wings extended. This will be my largest project yet!

If you see this, post a skeleton

Happy #fossilfriday! Here are some pictures of a #3dprint of an #Arthropleura juvenile! It took over 100 years to describe the head and me 3 only days to track down and print the data. The body print is 300% scale and the head is 1000%.

I have the week off from school so I’m taking some time to paint. Today I finished painting every Sauropodomorph in my collection!

Happy #fossilfriday! Here is a print from this past summer: The Triassic Cuddle! The Cynodont Thrinaxodon, the Temnospondyl Broomistega, and cast of the burrow Thrinaxodon likely dug. I prepped the burrow digitally to expose the skeletons, removing what would have been the floor of the burrow.

Happy 200th birthday to Iguanodon! Or should the recognition go to Mantellisaurus since most of the British material now belongs to that genus? Either way, here is a composite left hand of Mantellisaurus I 3D printed. The incomplete hand is original material, the filled in bits are from Iguanodon.

I segmented the CT data from this paper and 3D printed the vertebrae, thanks for sharing it!

For #fossilfriday I have the holotype skull of Dearc sgiathanach! This is the 2nd holotype I 3d printed from MorphoSource. Dearc is a large Scottish Pterosaur whose formal description was published today, congrats to @nataliajagielska.bsky.social et Al. On publishing! doi.org/10.1186/s128...

I 3D printed a whole pterosaur! More than some assembly required, this Tupandactylus navigans is arguably going to be the coolest thing I’ve made up to this point. Painting and more processing to come eventually.

A pterosaur pelvis, pteroid, and… phingers? Some lovely progress on #3dprinting the Tupandactylus skeleton!

My current project is 3D printing a partially restored skeleton of the pterosaur Tupandactylus navigans specimen known as GP/2E 9266! This skeleton was recovered from a police raid of Santos Harbor, Brazil in 2013 and formally described in 2021. #pterosaur #skeleton #3dprint

Hello! My name is Chris and for fun I like to 3D print life-sized models/replicas of various fossils. Here is about 70% of what I’ve made up to this point over the last 2.5 years or so.
