I could not believe that my kids could stop History and Geography as early as yr 9.
Having said that, I know many who struggled with variety of subjects and only thrived (be it A levels or uni) once they narrowed down to interests/skillset.

Across Europe, centrist (for lack or better descriptions) parties try to cling to power by aping right wing parties, and they all fail. It repels centrists, and core voters of right wing parties will always vote for the real thing.

I cannot stress enough how deeply hurtful this kind of discourse is. Knowing how it makes me (white, male, educated etc) feel, I dread to think how it makes people feel who are more easily ‘othered’.

Lot of folk saying UK proponents of an EU Customs Union are at least showing positive intent. I'd argue the precise opposite, that they are perpetuating the long-standing issue of UK demands on trade that seem like cakeism to the EU.

My concern is that in too many European capitals, the predominant thinking is still ‘we just have to get to 2028, then things will revert back to normal’.
