We used the indolequinone bioreductive group to protect VHL- or CRBN-recruiting BRD4 degraders rendering them inactive. This group is removed selectively in hypoxia, revealing the active PROTAC.

I’m sorry to hear that Sir Fraser Stoddart has passed away. I had the privilege of meeting him at St Andrews, Oxford, and most recently @uclacb.bsky.social. He was kind enough to spend some time with me and provide some very insightful advice. Condolences to his family, coworkers, and collaborators.
