It’s hard to disagree with that but at the same time Liverpool have amassed a strong points tally in their own right and that did keep pressure on the chasers.

I was too young for that but I’ve seen things like the state of the squad when Owen left and what Rafa had to work with or where Hodgson took us or even what Klopp inherited, I’m so glad of the strong base that we will have to build on over the next few years.

I’ll miss him. I think Mo and VvD also leave. Really glad that these players seem like they’ll get their hands on another major title. I am still excited by what the future will bring even if our competitiveness might dip slightly in the short term.

Great piece. From before my time but love hearing some of the stories of earlier glory years.

Are you talking about January 2021? 2022 a forward was the priority. 2023 no 1 player was going to sort things and we sorted out the midfield the following window. Short term looking squad depth isn’t going to be a huge priority ever really.

We’ve signed Gakpo and Diaz in January windows in the last 4 years.

this 6th circuit ruling killing net neutrality reads like a Verizon press release.

U.S. net neutrality rules were very modest, never actually enforced by a broadly feckless FCC, and are popular across a bipartisan majority of Americans, yet the court declares them "heavy handed"

Yeah, I don’t think the trophies will come into their equation at all. They think long term about these things and if there are good players available in positions we need they will bring them in. The owners don’t worry about squad players but they don’t really mess around with the first 16 or so.
