Response to @fetterman.senate.gov saying Dems shouldn't wait for Trump to show up with a dozen roses (though that is such nonsense, it almost answers itself).

Dem chairwoman of rural Crawford County PA, Lindsey Scott, talking about they kept chasing their voters till polls closed on Tuesday, deploying door knockers all day and achieving a record-high vote total for mayor. Inspiring stuff, all planned and executed locally. A lot to learn from.

A lot of Democrats were out there fighting for democracy today. Thanks to them.

Congress set aside $6 billion they could be using right now to keep funding SNAP. Plus $23 billion more in a separate fund. Excellent legal brief by @governor.pa.gov and other states, which they never should have had to even file.

I’m a Democrat, and I love the military and its core values. I used to prosecute people whose lack of integrity made them unfit for our ranks. Time to drum Scott out of Congress and send his Democratic opponent Janelle Stelson instead.

Last night in Westmoreland, we talked about the patriotism of refusing to be divided and conquered, of staying on the same side of the street as the Good Samaritan, of lighting a candle rather than cursing the darkness.

Maybe in Hegseth’s next TED talk about higher standards he can address the lowering of our standard against murder. No matter how fit or clean shaven we can’t have a force killing people we aren’t at war with. Absolutely awful for military culture in addition to being wrong and illegal.

In a nutshell: Trump promised to lower costs on day 1, but health insurance costs are going up 82% in Pennsylvania. We’re calling him on it so he wants to shut down the government.

I asked Lynn, a home care worker whose own healthcare price will skyrocket next year because of Trump, what she would say to Senator Schumer about the importance of stopping this from happening. I thought she gave a great answer.

Dare I say Pennsylvania is truly the garden state? Will miss the summer of 25.

White House account loves Fetterman blaming Schumer instead of Trump. Of course that blame makes no sense since Republicans failed to pass a bill then went on recess. And because while Schumer is actively trying to negotiate, Trump is refusing to.

If Tom Homan accepted $50k in cash, on camera, just before the election (per @kendilanian-nbc.bsky.social & @carolleonnig.bsky.social ), Dems must immediately demand the entire investigative file and not give DOJ another dollar till they get it.

*Our* money is paying for this corruption.

So Trump can get Kimmel and Colbert fired, execute people at sea, put others in a gulag, make foreign profits on crypto, force China to let his friends cash in on TikTok….

But he can’t stop healthcare prices going up 82% in Pennsylvania? Because he also needs a tax cut?

The MAGA campaign to capture our courts is here so let’s go: A vote to retain the 3 justices of PA’s Supreme Court means free and fair elections in 26 and 28, and no gerrymandering. It means women keep the right to choose. It means freedom of speech and religion. Pass it on.

20 counties in four months, lots of enthusiasm but we should be more confident. In 2018 we overcame many of the same obstacles, even in unlikely places like my district. People need to see we have the courage of our convictions.

Full room for town hall in Berks today, people who are clear they don’t care about polls, or national leadership, or the fact that it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon in summer. They’re ready to work hard and win. My 20th PA county since April, enthusiasm is the same in all.

Another month, still down 1,000 manufacturing jobs in PA since last summer. How soon till the 4 Republican congressmen trying to save their swing districts next year admit the tariffs aren’t working? Oh and the new jobs we are adding (eds&meds etc) are all directly threatened by Trump’s cuts.
August 20, 2025 at 12:27 AM
Trump is adding national guardsman and federal agents so that he can look at them, while places like York County, PA, that voted for him by 25 points, don't get anything. That's not how democracy is supposed to work.
August 17, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Today took me to Lancaster PA where I caught up with State Senator James Andrew Malone. He won a district this year that had voted for Trump just months before. A good reminder to go everywhere, talk to everyone, invite everyone in.
