#journorequest Looking to chat to people in Ireland who made a will in their 20s/early 30s about their reasons for doing so for an article in a national newspaper.

What types of things did you put in it if you don’t have assets, how was the process, did you leave last wishes for loved ones, etc?✍️

Yet again, Fine Gael has failed to win a presidential election, with some dubbing it 'the curse of the Áras'.

But just how close has Fine Gael come to winning the presidential elections over the past 90 years?

51% of people who voted for Catherine Connolly said they would vote for a left-alliance of Sinn Féin, Social Democrats, Labour and People Before Profit at the next general election.

This is compared to only 3% of Humphreys and 6% of Gavin voters.

Should the President criticise the government? New poll shows why people voted the way they did
A new poll by Ireland Thinks gives an insight into who respondents voted for and why – and what they think about a future left leaning coalition in the Dáil.

The Irish language has been discussed a lot during the Presidential election, but what is exactly is the importance of the language when it comes to the law and Bunreacht na hÉireann?

'It's important the President has Irish from a legal standpoint and as they are First Citizen'
Does the President of Ireland represent the people if he doesn’t speak the first official language as set out in the Constitution,a legal scholar has asked.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay2025 and I have a piece in The Irish Independent about how going to counselling in my early 20’s helped changed my outlook on life and mental health.

A topic close to my heart and I’m really happy with how it turned out✍️

Even though savings from the VAT cut announced in the Budget will be less than expected because of other rising costs, An Pota café's owner in Conamara said that he's happy with the government's decision.

Conamara café owner says VAT cut will barely offset other cost increases he's facing
Although it seems a reduction in VAT for hospitality businesses next year may cut costs, other Budget measures such as extra payments for pensions and a rise in the minimum wage almost cancel these…

Cé nach mbeidh an t-airgead taisce rómhór mar gheall ar chostais eile atá ag ardú, deir úinéir an chaifé An Pota i gConamara go bhfuil sé sásta leis an gcinneadh ón rialtas an cháin bhreisluacha a ísliú.

Ní rachaidh an gearradh VAT i ngleic le hardú costais eile atá ag caifé beag i gConamara
Cé go bhfuil cuma ar an laghdú cáin go dtacaíodh sé le gnóthaí bia timpeall na tíre, tá sé ráite ag úinéir caifé i gConamara nach mbeidh an t-airgead taisce rómhór toisc go bhfuil costais eile ag…

Watching Hook (1991) for the first time in years and I forgot how lovely it is. Dame Maggie Smith, Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman are amazing and it really goes to show how great practical effects are!

I have a piece in today's Irish Independent about the idea of soft masculinity and how men have started taking better care of their own mental health and the people around them because of it🗞

This is the third time I've flown home from Belgium for Christmas and it actually never gets less stressful- the fear you're going to miss your flight and ruin Christmas is real, even if I'm a week early! The sky as we were landing was the prettiest I've ever seen it though!🇮🇪

My presence on Twitter definitely became *less and less* over the past two years since leaving Ireland, mostly because I felt I had nothing to say really, but I had taken back to it over the past while. Given what's happening over on the bird app today, I think I'll try and be more active here...
