Looking overseas or back in history, you really wonder why politicians and organisations think they are the ones who will benefit from this.

People have had an expectation they can enrol and vote at the same time for decades (and election day itself the past 5 years).
Changing this without having other mechanisms embedded (ie compulsory voting, automatic enrolment) for years will result in voter suppression.

The most viable thing right now imo is a new bridge with a busway + walking and cycling options
