My fave thing is all the people in the Herald comments saying cycleways are pushed by the 'ideological left'.

When these are the initial paragraphs of my article😂

Had a quick read of the NZ Initiatives report on electoral reform.

Discussions on the number of MPs aside, the fact they are supporting the coalitions governments move to restrict the ability for people to enrol is a massive massive red flag...

This really should be the focus of any media...

Which number is bigger:
$1.2 billion on paperwork for State Highways*
$250 million on paperwork for light rail

*plus hundreds of millions for zero ferries

The East West link in Auckland, slated as the 'most expensive road' in NZ when the cost was $1.25-1.8 billion, is now slated to cost between $3.7-4.1 billion.

Just another example of how CRL is an absolute bargain.

Didn't feel like writing this all out in a thread lol! But election over, I didn't make it but some excellent folks did :)
October 18, 2025 at 4:14 AM
Wouldn't something like this be useful idk say, BEFORE THE ELECTION???
October 14, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Interesting... specials went almost 1:3 favouring the left in Waitematā in 2022... and I think that ratio is going to be higher this year
October 12, 2025 at 7:33 AM
The audacity to say this when C&R councillors voted AGAINST making voting in person... the hypocrisy and misinformation is off the charts!!

So VOTE if you haven't already, and tell your friends and family to vote if you have voted!

And vote for progressives who actually want to make things better!

Can't say its the same one 100%, but preeeetttty sure this hoarding I found dumped on Williamson Ave might be the one someone stole when they vandalised our hoarding (it also looked like it had been run over)
October 7, 2025 at 8:26 AM
It can be hard to call out this stuff, because candidates and elected members can be quick to fall back on plausible deniability. These are just members of the public – “not my circus, not my monkeys.” Or, they’ll just downplay the level and impact of abuse or vandalism.
October 7, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Just one example: this election, City Vision hoardings have been subject to targeted and persistent vandalism. We’ve also had conversations about watching out and avoiding certain people due to their history of using physical actions against things and people. Eg: www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3607...

The whole local board term, from the very first monthly meeting to the very last, you can see the pattern of relentless abuse in meeting recordings, as well as on social media. And that’s just what’s public.

Obviously politicians or staff shouldn’t be harassed. But nor should elected members engage in harassment. One example: for the last 3 years, one C&R Waitematā Local Board member has waged a relentlessly negative campaign against the chair, who stepped away from C&R at the start of the term.
October 7, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Another concern is when elected members constantly enable and legitimise people whose influence is both outsize and toxic.
October 7, 2025 at 6:38 AM
Why are some from C&R, engaging with Rock the Vote and their members? Do they believe in the same things, or just want their votes?
October 7, 2025 at 6:38 AM
…and it’s important to look beyond the cutesy name, because Rock the Vote NZ has some pretty cooked views, they support people like Brian Tamaki, they are extremely anti LGBT, are anti vaccine, and support United Nations conspiracy theories
October 7, 2025 at 6:38 AM
…in most cases, candidates flirting with extreme views in pursuit of votes is NOT funny. For example, some ostensibly ‘centre right’ candidates from C&R are engaging with (and thus legitimising) conspiracy groups like Rock the Vote NZ…

Meet Teddington.

Teddington supports voting in local elections. Teddington also wants a more walkable Auckland.

If you want Teddington to have nice walks in Auckland make sure you vote City Vision for local board and council!

(You have until this Saturday October 11th noon to get your vote in)

Spent almost five hours today fixing our hoardings. Some damaged by wind, but a lot by vandalism including this one completely smashed up in Ponsonby.

Thing is, it's essentially only OURS which are being intentionally vandalised over and over again. Makes you wonder...

Wow look at this street. There must be incredible productivity gains on this crucial economic route from Simeon Browns blanket speed increases. So safe, and so fitting at 50km/h!

Talking about a version of this (but decreased and increased split out)

You have the power to help make housing more affordable in Auckland folks!

How?

By voting in this years local elections to get progressives elected who actually want to do the mahi and improve things, rather than people who have spent decades preventing positive change.
September 23, 2025 at 3:08 AM
I love when an incumbent councillor, who afaik has achieved basically nothing to improve housing affordability, claims the 'Woke Left' is selling out to developers and neoliberalism.

If only someone had written a thesis on neoliberalism and housing say, for their Masters degree?
