Movie nerd, occasional gamer and anime enjoyer
I only ever talk about movies because I feel like revealing what I'm interested in when it comes to other areas of pop culture (music, books, TV, etc) would be extremely embarrassing, either because of what specifically I'm interested in or the lack of knowledge I have about that subject (Sports)

Batman movies: oh God will people still take these movies seriously if we put Robin in them?

Batman comics: Batman has adopted like 7 different kids who are all different sidekicks for him, he's got like 10 other bat friends he runs around with sometimes, he tried to make Clayface a sidekick...

Spent my time stuck at home watching all the Batman movies, so here's my arbitrary ranking. BVS is the only one I don't really like

The thing about THE DARK KNIGHT is that for as much as it's become an exhausted symbol for just about every contemporary pop culture debate we have basically to the point of losing all meaning in the social media conscious, I can still rewatch it now and love just about every scene

I'm reading Batman A Death In The Family right now and everyone talks about this in terms of Jason Todd's death but no one has ever mentioned the insane plot around that where The Joker becomes a UN ambassador with diplomatic immunity so that Superman has to stop Batman from causing an intl incident

The "People who are calling for a ceasefire don't have an answer for how to deal with Hamas" line annoys me because people calling for indiscriminate bombing certainly don't either -- they are just pretending to, even though their solution is counterproductive.

Finally getting caught up on Mindhunter season 2 after like 5 years, Holt McCallany is incredible in this season

I obviously dislike Pierre Poilievre for all of his politics, but I also think we should avoid voting for him whenever our next election comes because do we really want someone with vibes like that as the head of our country's government?

Watching Videodrome (for the first time) in 2023 feels like finding a warning sign for where society is going in regards to media consumption once we've already gone too far

I've been trying and failing to convince myself to actually write about film in my free time for so long but I think/hope I might finally be able to write about Oppenheimer and/or KOTFM and/or The Boy and the Heron

It's really interesting to me how Asteroid City and Killers of the Flower Moon (spoilers for both) really draw attention to the artificiality of the stories being told, especially because they're both doing it for very different reasons

I especially think of the chapter where Grann meets the grandchild of Mollie and Ernest and she talks about the experience of her father growing up and meeting Ernest in old age. I think a scene depicting something like this would both be a great scene and would help connect the story to the present
The book is just so full of details that in the film are in the peripheral that I wish could've been explored a little more. In particular I think of the 3rd part of the book set in the present day. I think it would've been nice to have a short epilogue about something from that section

My only real critique of Killers of The Flower Moon is that I wished it was longer tbh

My birthday begun with me two thirds of the way through Killers of the Flower Moon, so in my books, a good way to start the next year of my life

What if there was a man made out of chainsaws?

I wonder if there are any stories tackling questions like this
