I use the same bus stop and 100% agree. I shouldn't have to feel like I'm risking my life to cross stone way to get home.

so that shouldn't be a hold up.

Great idea. Having the bike shop on the NW corner and Brooks on the SE corner spill out into the plaza for bike repair workshops, group runs, etc + restaurants in the Brooks building opening to the street.

I'm pretty sure the huge SPU trucks running to the transfer station turn left on 35th...

for sure, there will always be shitty buildings! we should definitely make peace with that, but we should also try to change the codes that induce shit by default. if we make it easier to build attractive buildings all over the city, it might force developers to compete on quality.

When it needs to be done quickly to reduce carrying costs for the developer, code compliance is a higher priority. Just get it permitted and built.

Given our insane housing shortage, speed is absolutely important. If we want good buildings built quickly, then codes need to be simplified.

To add on to my reply, I agree with what others are saying about codes. I think what I was describing is that it's quite difficult/time-consuming to design a good building that recedes into the fabric of the neighborhood under our shitty zoning and building codes.

who built it without ever consulting back to the design team. It's how these weird conditions proliferate.

Based on my experience as a young architect, this was probably designed and submitted for permit in 8 weeks without the design team stepping foot onsite. There probably weren't any construction details, just drawings to show code compliance. The package was then handed to the developer/builder...

Converting N 43rd and/or Woodlawn into school streets for Hamilton and Lincoln and connecting them to the bike network would safely allow much more independence for students to bike to and from school.

Principles of fairness and comity demand that we give puppet Saka his due!

We still have Saka, Rivera, and Kettle puppets. Plus the Dan Strauss bits are usually pretty funny but for less infuriating reasons.

Gotta love the densest/tallest zone adjacent to the interstate, tapering down as you get further away. Lol. Lmao, even.

If you don't call for Schumer to step down as leader, then I'll assume you were involved in this orchestrated cave in.
