The way Cody v Drew ended was stupid. Cheap heat.

Cheap heat at the expense of better longform stories.

USA has lot of anti-intellectualism. Not allowed to seem smart without people thinking you're throwing it in their face.

But when someone in authority wants to assert power (whether its a bank clerk or a press secretary), they employ fancy sounding Orwell-lang to end things on their terms.
Struck by how Noem and McLaughlin say "weaponized the vehicle" instead of the simple, monosyllabic "tried to hit him with her car," which is a concrete assertion the evidence does not support. "Weaponized the vehicle" is abstract. The humans disappear. The car was made to do... something. 1/6

The idiot who fumbled the Ta-Nehisi Coates interview is the SAME GUY who did a paean to Marco Rubio?

Points for consistency, I guess.

Eh, the Larian use of AI to help w placeholder text and PPT’s don’t seem that bad.

He attests they don’t use it for creative, and that creative is sth you “cannot rush” with such tools. But sth to keep an eye on, for sure.

Primary them #transrights
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

Clear, vital, and making a difference. This is why I dig her.
If Mike Johnson is refusing to call the House back into session during the shutdown, then we’ll do the work right here the Bronx.

The New York Essential plan is being eliminated entirely next year due to the GOP healthcare cuts. People’s lives are at stake.

And that’s why we’re fighting back.

Listening to the Blowback podcast about the Korean war.

It's clear the main thing fueling human suffering is distance/ignorance.

When Americans were ignorant of the actual conditions on the ground in Korea, it was easy for them to choose fear and ignorance over compassion.

My future president.
Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…

So instead of microtransactions and other mechanisms decreasing as EA loses its obligations to shareholders, perhaps they will increase. Hope not., but eesh 😮‍💨
A lot of people are (understandably) focused on the Saudi Arabia and Kushner part of this, but the far bigger immediate impact will come from the new private EA being on the hook for $20 billion in debt. That could mean mass layoffs, more aggressive monetization, and other big cost-cutting measures

Good way to think about advancing progress in a country hostile to it. Perhaps dems that want to lead the public on feminist, gun, and income inequality issues should take a hint.
one way you could describe lincoln's approach is of never getting ahead of the public on its attitudes, but holding an immovable set of principles on where the country ought to be and where he hopes to lead it
