“Then I woke up.” Pretty bleak. Faithful to McCarthy, whose vision is a lot darker than the Coens, but funny in a weirdly similar way.

There was an editorial to a '90s issue of (the ace) Mojo Magazine that made the case that if you liked Rock music, but claimed to dislike the Beatles, you were doing it out of pure contrarianism or to get attention. Which felt true then and still feels true now. Me & my Gen-X mates loved them.

Taylor and Janin on Detective is aces, too. I think the last 6 months or so have been the most consistent Batman line since I've been reading comics (so 40 years or thereabouts).

I always wanted to read it when I was a kid but could only afford a few comics and would invariably choose Spidey or X-Men instead. So when I got back issues years later I had low expectations. And it's actually fantastic. Funny, weird, exciting. Wagner is a great storyteller. Needs an omni/trade...
