If you see this, post an album cover with a motor vehicle on it.

I was wondering if there were any other bands who could claim to be the most influential, in the history of modern pop and rock music. These 4 British bands seem to be consistently on the list ... but would it be different in other countries?

Unfortunately, Glenn Frey had passed by the time we finally got to see #Eagles play live. However, his son Deacon was front and centre, and looked like he had been there forever.

Happy birthday to British actress, presenter and narrator Tamzin Outhwaite. Born in the town where I grew up. Ilford, London Borough of Redbridge.
Here she is with co-stars as DCI Sasha Miller in New Tricks (BBC TV).

All the best.

Yeah! All booked for UB40 next year. With fabulous support guests.
Not seen UB40 since the 2010 'Signing Off' 30th Anniversary tour, when they played the entire album in sequence, followed by a greatest hits set. Can't believe it's 45 years since I bought that album!

Interesting colour cast.
Lovely wide beach at St Malo. My profile photo happens to be from a restaurant in the town, the day this shot was made.

The wonderful cinematography, writing, acting, pace, restrained emotions, etc, etc, etc. No contest really.

Nom'ed for 8 Oscars (no wins), in the year of Philadelphia, Schindlers List, The Piano. Hopkins won the BAFTA.

Rightfully won the Academy Award for that one.
These are the other two in my top 3 biopic performances.

Our greatest living artist. Still enthusiastically making art at 88.
I often used Hockney's work in my art teaching career, as it was so accessible, and the colours so intense.

Saw his Grand Canyon installation in Paris many years back. Spectacular.

All these years later, I still think 'The Hill' is one of his best performances. 1965, Dir Sidney Lumet.
Apparently he really enjoyed working with Lumet and they did 4 more films together.

Visited the Sagrada Familia a few years back and, even unfinished, it is spectacular. I believe they are aiming to 'top out' in 2026, but work will go on long after that. Sadly many of the original plans and models were destroyed in 1936, during the civil war.

Certainly a close similarity. Here are The Seven Sisters from Birling Gap.

Old pubs had lots of character and were the central hubs of entertainment in many communities (lots gone now). The architecture and decoration was quite interesting too.

I love these little captures of colours and textures. Particularly at that transition point between sea/water and land. Just like little abstract paintings.
I am not really a photographer. My captures are references for drawing and painting: from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Greek Isles, Canaries.

Sound and light.

Nothing beats live music, whatever the scale. Support your local club/theatre/bar/pub band or artist if you can. Remember, all the big artists had to start somewhere.
A few bigger gigs from last year.

For the last 5+ years people have been sharing coastal landscape images with the Global Shorelines Project. I mount exhibitions in aid of marine conservation charities.
Maybe send me an image of a coast you love with a sentence of commentary.
Some previously posted examples below.

I notice someone posted this photo the other day. A reminder that Christopher Lloyd is a skilled serious actor, with a canon of stage work alongside all the TV and film character work.
Happy birthday @mrchristopherlloyd

WIP. Three studies for the 'Fragments' Series. The Global Shorelines Project.
I am fascinated by the colours and textures of those many and varied transition points between sea and land.

Cozumel, Guatemala, Corralejo.
Acrylic inks, graphite, charcoal and conte crayon on 300gsm paper.

This is very sad. I was wondering how people in the UK would feel if a Prime Minister (of any party) started tearing bits of Chequers down.
For the record, it's Grade 1 listed and given for the use of the Prime Minister. He/she does not own it. The public do, through The Chequers Trust.

Great picture.
Recently went to the Crich Tramway Village, Nr Matlock. They have a Woolwich tram in the sheds there; and many others from different regions, countries and periods. This one was an earlier period, with open top and driver positions.
