These regional climate centers are (were) a great resource for farmers, builders and many other communities. They are all about to disappear. Astonishing ignorance.
Some news. Those of you that utilize the cli-MATE tool from the Midwest Regional Climate Center will no longer have access unless funding is restored before the 17th.

A huge loss.

Please repeat over and over:

“Bending to the whims of a bully will not end his cruelty. It will only embolden him. The response to authoritarianism isn’t acquiescence. Bullies respond to one thing, and one thing only: a punch in the face.”

‘During the 2018 trade war, Trump handed out billions to compensate for farm losses. But farmers are in a worse financial situation today, losing money on almost every major crop planted. “Adding costs and reducing markets could create an economic burden some farmers may not be able to bear.”’
Farmers Are Under Hammer From Tariffs. It Could Be Worse This Time.
“Farmers are frustrated,” said Caleb Ragland, president of the American Soybean Association, in a Tuesday statement.

Bigger the farm size, bigger the risk of #birdflu
Why Canada isn't having the same bird flu/egg price crisis as US:

Avg size of Canada's egg farms ~ 23,000 hens
Avg size of American egg farms ~ 50,000 to 6 million hens

Canadian supply management = more livelihoods, keeps prices stable, and is safer.

♀️🌍 #InternationalWomensDay reminds us WOMEN FEED THE WORLD!

Women produce 60% of food in the Global South—yet are denied land, finance & power.

“If we don’t get more gender equality in #foodsystems, we’ll keep skewing toward profit—away from sustainability & feeding people.”

Call me crazy, but I think Justin Sun, a Chinese national being prosecuted for fraud by the SEC, sending Trump $18 million should be a bigger story

The direct enrichment of Trump by a foreign national weeks before he takes office has merited no coverage in the NYT or Washington Post
A Chinese national, charged with fraud by the SEC, just sent Donald Trump $18 million
Chinese Crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun paid $6.2 million for a banana — sold by Sotheby's as conceptual art — and then ate it last Friday.

You need to see shocking extent of carbon inequality around the world.

A remarkable study led by Jared Starr finds that super-rich US households emit *2000 TIMES* more CO2e than average low-income country households.

How the f*ck is that even possible? The disparity never ceases to enrage me.
