Yes, ballot drop boxes are the smart way to do this as post marking might not work in the same day.
It’s election day!!! Vote! 🗳️ And make sure to put those ballots in county elections drop boxes to ensure that they’re counted.

Federal funding for SNAP benefits is at risk. Please help us ensure our families get the food and support they need in November. Our families can’t afford this disruption to their lives.

Grateful for this recognition from Atlanta Magazine:

"Written like gripping fiction, There Is No Place for Us is one of the best works of narrative nonfiction of the year, with prose so searing and incisive it will either inspire or enrage—or, most likely, both."

The Seattle City Council's Comp Plan committee is kicking off now, where we're going to be breaking down proposed amendments to the city's 20-year growth plan, including permanent residential zoning regulations and final neighborhood center boundaries.

But we don't yet have those amendments.

I talked to KCRW about how, since the 1980s, political leaders have framed homelessness as a problem of individual pathology—a tactic to conceal its economic roots, justify removing unhoused people from public space, and divert scrutiny from a system that both creates and profits off this precarity.
What pushed these Americans into homelessness? Not addiction or mental illness
Journalist Brian Goldstone set out to uncover the true scope of homelessness, and followed five families for more than five years. His new book is “There Is No Place for Us.”

23 organizations across Washington receive funding from a state grant program for diaper banks, which provide diapers, wipes & other essentials to low-income families. In 2024, they distributed over 13 million baby products. But their funding was slashed by 50% as state budget cuts became a reality.

On June 30, Seattle’s new rules for neighborhood zoning will take effect, allowing 4 to 6 units of housing on single-family lots. The hope is that the duplexes, cottage apartments and other “missing” housing types allowed by the rezone will cost less to buy and rent than single-family homes.
