Love my family history; social work quals and worked in prisons for years. Now gardening, enjoying my grandson, and researching, researching, researching. What could be better?
So gather more info on her relatives before you start narrowing your research. Since other trees are inconsistent, forget them for now - it sounds like others have simply taken a stab at what might be possible. Is she catholic or protestant? did she immigrate? who was her husband?

Hi Brendan - using DNA areas will not really assist you at this stage of your research. There are 27 CS's born in Killarney born between 1869 & 1872. The Irish placenames are not consistent & may be a townland or a parrish (in different places altogether!

Hi Brendan - where online trees conflict, then you must start from scratch. Go back to where you are reasonably certain of the records, and look again. Check areas and work descriptions. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if there is more you can follow. Nil Desperandum !

go to the john grenham site, and do a surname search for places, then use the Irish Genealogy site (free) & Roots Ireland site $ to explore possibilities. Use DNA for clues. #Genealogy #IrishGenealogy

However, if you were to enclose a stamped, addressed envelope, and a five pound note, we may oblige.

Hi Debbie I have researched this area, as I have family living there during the period you mention. look it up on the Internet archive too, and also the East London History Society and Lockies Topography of London. What is the surname of your family? #Genealogy

Thankyou Janet - The loud, troubled people who are afraid eventually quieten - or burn themselves out. Those who take a deep breath, then remain steadfast - they endure. Or at least manage, which is the best we can do. With humour, with a light touch, and with vision.

I asked AI and this is the reply: There is no specific height requirement for a lady's maid; their suitability depends on discretion, skill, and the ability to manage wardrobes and styling, rather than physical stature.

Poor Charles - and I suspect he was gay (check out his Will). Thanks for the extra information! I have a collection of the bound Girls Own Annuals and have found some fascinating stuff....

I suspect the Editor of the Girls Own 1880-1907, Charles Peters, wrote this himself. He died of 'obesity' and you can see more at shop.interfoto.de/id/01923832

Lots of times, especially children in the 1700's, but adults too. and parish records are littered with unknown persons found dead, or found abandoned and given a name at baptism by the priest.

Depends on the social strata they inhabit. upper class - seclusion & adoption & marriage to anyone. Middle - quick marriage, with age inflated. Lower - attempt @ abortions; marriage to older man as housekeeper/mum to his children; dau. mum says its hers or accepted & reared.

Sooo.... you are writing to the Editor about these 'friends' of yours? A bit mean of you, I think. Noone likes a tattle-tale. Of course, if its you, then you have your answer. However, the young men are also tarnished, no? #GirlsOwn
