Love my family history; social work quals and worked in prisons for years. Now gardening, enjoying my grandson, and researching, researching, researching. What could be better?
I am creating a powerpoint on the Evidence Explained citation method for my family history society. Wondering - how many FH writers & family historians use it? #Genealogy #genealogycitations

My GG grandmother was charged but not convicted of doing abortions - I found she was operating a scam for money - pretty callous. Have just found what happened to the girl she scammed (court case) so at last can complete the story! long live indepth research! #Genealogy

New on Ancestry (for World Explorer/World Heritage) – a transcribe feature for handwriting. Its not too bad – I tested it on a marriage cert with messy writing & given the difficulty of writing in columns, it got most right except for transcribing Williams as Bellairs (interesting!). #genealogy

I am very impressed with this site, and the back issues available in full. But must comment - lets continue with "an historian" - British common usage - not "a historian" which is awkward to say. #genealogy

Good to see this sort of exploration into historic family violence - and it gives a snapshot into the social history of the time. A question for all family history searchers - how would you feel if this happened in your family?

When a wealthy WA man killed his wife in 1876, it fuelled the fight for women's rights
A murder in colonial Perth almost 150 years ago shocked the country and inspired Edith Cowan, the woman on Australia's $50 note, to fight for the rights of women.
