Flint Henry drawing the last third of the series is actually one of the things that drew me to Grimjack. I was already a fan of his from the short-lived Law Dog series from Marvel‘s Epic Comics line

Ostrander was, of course, the biggest draw.

Purcell was awesome with those first few pages in the bar. Every time there’s a Munden’s Bar appearance, whether it’s own backup tale, or just in the main Grimjack story, I am scanning the crowd for who might be showing up unexpectedly in the background. It’s part of the fun!

The little bit of gold I see on the head makes me think the Flash but it could be Solar as well. Not enough detail for me to lock in.

Might be time to read issues 10 through 18 again to get that juice pumping directly into your veins!

Top Shelf Friday time 🎉

Because I found out 40 years late that Grimjack was one of the best 80’s comics titles being published, my choice this week is the character’s first appearance in the backup story from Starslayer #10 (1983)

Hey Jim, if you’re looking for future artists to work with on Savage Sword of Conan, it seems like the perfect spot for José Luis García-López to drop in. I’ve personally heard him mention (twice!) at HeroesCon that the one character he would like the chance to draw professionally is Conan.

Aware of it but never saw an issue. My dream is to take a trip to the UK at some point and just go to town buying up a bunch of older British comic magazines.

I adore that it’s the Millenium Falcon they are building.

I mean, the answer is obvious… unless you already have it!

I remember. When I started, my boss was ordering from three different distributors (Diamond, Capital City, one other I forget). Then Marvel bought Heroes World and DC signed an exclusive with Diamond, it shifted things behind the scene dramatically. His orders with Capital got smaller and smaller.

I’m almost there! 2-3 more days and I’ll be in the thick of it!

The whole series is like this, particularly in the beginning where Ostrander was beginning to explore the concept of Cynosure. As his plots became more refined and stories developing the lead character became longer, the uniqueness of a dimensionally linked megacity settled more into the background.

I remember that title but don’t think I ever read an issue. I worked at a comic shop in the early 90’s while going to uni. It was a busy location, never any time to just pause and flip through books. So I saw a lot of stuff go by that I never got the chance to crack open.

Spoilers!

I totally could have seen that happening. Untold Tales of Munden‘s Bar featuring World’s Toughest Milkman!

Even with only a passing familiarity of Sam & Max, I found this one very entertaining.
