Just landed back home from a much needed family vacation. Portland/Oregon coast/Redwood NP/NorCal. Lots of things checked off the bucket list

And the nighttime edition: a freshhhh cicada and a fresh(ish) eastern screech owl. This owl is from a family that has been hunting in my yard all summer! You can still see some of its baby feathers. #bugsky #birdsky

I’ve been making an effort to spend time outside every day even though it feels like walking through a bowl of hot soup. Here’s some phone pics of today’s critters: a green anole and a Mississippi kite

And I thought Nightbitch was weird! Dengue Boy is weird, gross but entertaining in a way that I can’t look away from. I just started it yesterday and I’m already halfway done. The StoryGraph genre challenge really has me reading books I might have not picked up otherwise and I love it! #booksky

on a mission to eat at least one fig this season. it’s me vs the birds
Fig tree with mesh drawstring bags covering some of the green figs in hopes they can be protected from birds in order to ripen so I can eat one friggin fig for once. the bags are long because they’re left over from something else and I couldn’t be bothered and didn’t want to be wasteful. I just want a fig please

the coop and run are officially done! I need to bury the hardware cloth apron and build some nesting boxes next but that’s for another day!
