Albuquerque citizen who is super-enthused about what Mayor Tim Keller has achieved in 8 years and will achieve in the next 4 years if we put him back in to keep leading Albuquerque's comeback. #ABQ #Burque

“Darren White is allowing us to take the gloves off! WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!”

“Who gave them permission to feed the homeless at all?”

- an #ABQ APD email, 2010, just before our police began arresting volunteers who were feeding our homeless.

Ah, #Albuquerque, remember the Darren White Era?:

Endorsements of public leaders can be nice, but in 2025, there's only one leader's endorsement that has mattered to me in this Mayor's race, and it means everything. The great iconic labor and civil rights leader Dolores Huerta: the world's Number One advocate for Tim Keller & his reelection.

The River of Lights 2021: 7-year-old Pronoy is walking when a drunk plows his ATV thru a red light & ends the boy's life. The driver flees but now sits in prison for 27 years. How did we get justice for Pronoy? The Shield. The Shield works & we should let @mayorkeller.bsky.social finish it.

My latest post on Substack tells the story of the fatal police shooting of young Christopher Torres in my city in 2011 -- and some questions for Darren White, the candidate for Mayor now who oversaw our police department here in Albuquerque then.

Darren White's entire plan: (1) To "unshackle the police." Last time he cost us hundreds of unjustified uses of force including more than 15 fatal shootings and $100 million to clean up his mess. (2) On Day One, to take away every homeless person's tent. In January. That's it. That's his whole plan.

#ABQ: The difference in these 2 leaders couldn't be more stark. The cruel out-of-control Darren White gave us the cruelest most out-of-control police force in America. The humane steady Tim Keller has given us one of the most professional and trusted police forces in America.

Incredible to hear Darren White brag that yes he did tell our #ABQ police in 2010 to "take the gloves off" against not only the homeless but the volunteers feeding the homeless! The guy clearly would love to do it again every day for the next 4 years. Kinda of a sick and twisted mofo, ain't he?

So, yes, Mayor Keller made one mistake in the debate. The 24% number. It happens. But far more importantly, we do know - cuz DoJ reported it to us - that when Darren White led APD, more than half the fatal shootings and one-third of uses of force by officers were unjustified.

In 2004, when Darren White as our Sheriff was managing our city-county jail, a dozen guards formed "a welcoming party" for 3 arriving prisoners - who'd done nothing wrong yet at the jail - and beat up the 3 shackled men. The only whistleblower was fired. Darren White did nothing to reform the jail.

Let's keep it simple when it comes to assessing the effectiveness and success of Mayor Tim Keller as a crimefighting leader.

In Keller's first 7 years as Mayor, #ABQ violent crimes dropped by 26%, property crimes dropped by 34%, rapes dropped by 47%, and robberies dropped by 69%.

Darren White is back, taking on our Reform Mayor
Tim Keller here in Albuquerque. Remember the Darren White Era of policing? How he kicked off 5 years of unjustified use of force, shootings and killings? And how we responded in '14 w/ the 2nd largest protest in #ABQ - 1,000 strong - since the 1960s:

Crime is trending down in Albuquerque because we are taking a smarter approach. With better tech, added support staff, and ACS taking thousands of calls, officers can focus on violent crime. This is how we move our city forward, safer and stronger together.
