This change, this softening from hero of the people to mascot and superhero by comittee/corporation is one that Miller talks a lot about at the time, and can just as easily be used to explain both the dkr move and funnily where strikes again ends up with the character and super heroes in general

Beyond this page looking great it does situate Superman within the grip of the powerful and that can both be an in story thing in this case this being the us government but also something outside the pages of the comic something that had been happening to Superman all along.

I have been reading through a lot of golden age superman and among many things it really crystallizes the ways that people are wrong about how the character is used in DKR

It is very funny and kinda sad how much of online has become this quote from Dune and people often are rushing to fill non specific posts with themselves in some way.
