The referees still have to approve the balls just like in the past, but kickers are allowed to work them over and practice with them prior to game day.

The was an article (in The Athletic I think?) about exactly this. The biggest reason is that kickers are now allowed to use their kicking balls in practice leading up the games, as opposed to having to get brand new balls before each game.

That’s fair. It’s definitely in the gray area when it comes to whether or not there’s too much extra stuff on the screen

It’s often helpful once the play starts - if the QB is scrambling or on a screen play, for example

Disagree on that one

Lol. I will not trust this team on the road until they prove me wrong.

We’re good in Tuscaloosa

I’m pretty sure they do. The decisions makers have to trust them.

On the first point, I also want to add that I fell for all the hype coming out of fall camp. Like pretty much every Bama fan I know, I thought this team was underrated at #8 and was a legit title contender. So that didn’t help things lol

And I thought Ty was fine for a first time starter playing good team on the road. Missed on a few throws but looked like he belonged out there and showed decent poise and arm strength. Jake Coker-ish. I’d give him a B-.

Crazy. I had the opposite feeling/opinion on both fronts. This loss hurt more than any Saban loss, because back then I knew we’d bounce back and be great as long as he was there. This loss feel like it’s O-V-E-R. As a fan since the 80’s, I know what dark times might lie ahead.
