Agreed - *and* rotational left backs in the autumn of the careers! Half the problem is selling The Project to these kinds of players when it's obvious there's very few people in the building who believe in it themselves sadly. Ange's great strength was his power of persuasion, even at the end...

My worry is we've essentially stockpiled a great many young players who may well be brilliant, consistent top-end players in 3 years time, and more or less neglected the gaping holes we have in the first XI *now*. By the time the youth policy bears fruit our best players could be long gone ...

There's definitely an underlying hunger to target achievable trophies again, and I think this season hinges on whether we have the mentality to go deep in the FA Cup, or press on in the league once/if we go out of the CL. It could all essentially be decided by how seriously Emery takes the 3rd round

I wouldn't trade the Europa League for anything, but it's definitely been underestimated how long it would take to reset the mentality of a team that were essentially told they only had to perform once every three games. I feel like *that's* the culture that TF is talking about improving.

I feel like it's altered the brain chemistry at the Club, for better and worse. The lack of accountability amongst the players for putting in consistent performances has undoubtedly, in my mind, bled through from sacking-off the league campaign last year.
