Another important note. Current leadership at the DOJ is on it's way out the door, as the Trump administration takes over on Monday.

This is not to say the Trump administration is the reason this investigation is ending. The Biden DOJ started it AFTER Trump won the election.

An important note. The DOJ Notified the county it was opening this investigation in mid November. They requested YEARS worth of records. It took the county an entire month just to compile all of it.

It took the DOJ a month to wrap their investigation.

And to be clear, this is all just the fight over whether he stays in jail during his murder trial or not.

Hanging over all of this? This case could set a real precedent for the detention of law enforcement officers under the SAFE-T Act.

The court could punt. The states attorney is appealing to the Illinois Supreme Court, and asking for a stay on the appellate ruling while the High court decides. The court could delay the next hearing until after the courts decision

Far from the end of this legal battle.

This does not mean Grayson is spending Thanksgiving at home, though. Sang. Co. Courts have to set those conditions still. They will be in court Monday, where they could schedule another hearing to do just that, Or...

Sangamon County Republicans poured over $127 thousand dollars into this race (as of September 30th) to try and unseat one of the few Democrats left holding office in the county.

In comparison, Sangamon County Dems gave Langfelder around $17 thousand.

The Recorder is not a very public-facing office. It is responsible for (you guessed it) keeping records (i.e. Mortgages, Corporation records, veteran discharge paperwork, etc.).

But of all the county races on the ballot, this one was the most competitive -- and most expensive -- races in the county
