Yep.
When talking about Jupiter, my six-year-old, who laughs to tears over potty jokes and loves to ask me questions about the stars and the planets, said to me the other day, “Daddy, I think YOU’RE the gas giant.” It would seem the student has already become the master.

Ran the old crop circle route on this unseasonable warm December morning. Global Warming is an unnerving prospect to put it mildly, but, uh, there’s this, I guess.

Donkey Kong 64 contains an extremely bizarre unused animation of Donkey Kong floating awkwardly in mid-air. The demo version reveals what the animation was meant to look like, with him undulating wildly during it, which is equally bizarre and unexplained.

Nice last full moon of 2024 for this morning’s run. Obviously the picture I took doesn’t do it much justice. And, as has been the case the last couple months, Jupiter is just hanging out back there, photobombing every moon picture I take.

As they say, “when life gives you lemons, plant one of the seeds so it grows into a big ass tree that touches the ceiling and annoys your wife when it takes up an entire window.”

Day 36 of running every morning after not running consistently in years. Added a new cul de sac today. I know “track star” isn’t in my future, but I’m proud of that extra little circle on the map. Good start to week six.

If you like coffee at all and live in Northeast Ohio, you gotta go to Heartwood Coffee Roasters. My goodness, it’s good. Or I guess if you don’t want other coffee roasts ruined for you for the rest of your life, maybe don’t go.

Today’s 4:30am thought: I got to take my 7-year-old son to a Guardians game last summer, which has been something I’ve been dying to do. Baseball is great, and I can’t recommend getting your kids into it enough if they’re interested. One of my three is, so I guess I’m batting a respectable .333.

Today’s 5am thought: as someone who works in healthcare and sees terms like myalgia, arthralgia, and neuralgia daily, it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize the root words of nostalgia. Once I saw it though, hoo boy, did that bit of knowledge help reframe my views on my life.

“It gets easier. Every day, it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it every day. That’s the hard part. But it does get easier.”

32 days and two full moons so far…

Backyard woods in the moonlight. Pictures really don’t do it justice, unfortunately. Everything is just glowing with an ethereal light. My 4:30am thought today is I really need to take my kids to Zion Park when they’re older so I can see them react to just how gorgeous the night sky can be.

Wow, glad the clouds finally got the hell out of the way this morning. Beautiful 4am to 5am sky today. Love that Jupiter is just hanging back there photo bombing the moon too. 🌕

Went out early in the morning last month to check out the October Harvest Moon and remembered Jupiter and Mars have been hanging out in plain view this whole time. Been taking a peak at them every morning I can since. 4am to 6pm before the work phone comes on and the kids wake up is a great time.

“The Aurora Borealis?! At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely over your neighborhood?!”

“Yes!”

I never thought I’d actually get to use that scene to reference my real life experience. Amazing. Beautiful too, Simpsons aside.

The winter/indoor garden sure perks up on the deck during the warmer months. Unbelievable that the random lemon seed I threw in a pot of left over dirt two years ago now is a small tree with leaves as big as my hand.
