The Good Land

Guys, I can't believe this. This whole time, St. Paul endorsed the despicable sin of empathy. He even said we shouldn't keep our mercy and service exclusively to other Christians, but should "love our enemies?!?!" I don't know how we can allow Romans 12 to remain part of God's Word.

Was out walking with the baby spending time in prayer. Came across a tree with at least four Harris's hawks in it (though only three appear in the shot). Was pretty #neat

Not a pet pic (too many allergies) but this giraffe from my oldest's field trip fits the silly bill and brings me joy.

My lovely wife helped melt down the sugar to make this a rather sturdy creation. And my daughters did an incredible job working together to decorate.

Today's grub included steam buns and Dan Dan noodles, plus a Guatemalan enchilada from the place where we bought tamales. Safe to say it's a good day.

This is one of the more apt holiday sweaters I've owned.

Life finds a way. Somehow a little basil plant is popping up next to pots that haven't held basil in at least a year. #neat

Speaking of my bike ride, I didn't crash this time! Helps to go out during the day. Still need to adjust the bike and lower the handlebars but feel great about the secondhand purchase. #cycling

Hoping someone can help identify this beautiful little guy I saw when taking a break on my bike ride this morning. Metro Phoenix, AZ area. #birds

Really liked the view I caught of the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona. This was shot from Cathedral Rock on a gorgeous fall morning.

I'll never get sick of Sedona. Well... Maybe the traffic. But not the other parts.

Fall hikes are pretty great. Even saw some wild burros!

Oh nothing just "fixing" a broken water main in the desert and grappling with existential guilt about living in a place where I frequently shake my fist at God.

In Phoenix, you never know what little gems your car might pick up by simply taking a little twirl around town. Take this melted asphalt, for instance, who decided that sweltering under the brutal sun wasn't nearly as thrilling as hitching a ride to my tire.
