Similar to my post about "liberation means even for that annoying guy you hate" - weird art includes art you personally don't get, don't like, wouldn't spend money on, find unsettling. Games you wouldn't play. Books you wouldn't read. Decommercialise your preconceptions of what art deserves to exist

This is an interaction that I never bothered nor intended to share, but it’s relevant.

One of my very few celebrity interactions was with Hugh Dancy. I spoke with him very briefly about how Hannibal helped me get out of really bad artists block back in the day. He looked me dead in the eye, and said, “I think that was more you, than us.”
It was oddly affirming.
So today. And every other day.
Remember:
Whatever you interact with, be it books, games, comics, films, or anything else-
They can move your world.
They can change your life.
They can save your life.
But it’s not the work that changes you, it’s what you do with it. That’s you. You are the one who chooses to change and who chooses to live. Maybe they open a door, let you see a little more clearly, and let you breathe when you don’t realize you’ve been holding the air in your lungs. But no one tells you what to do with the information you are given. No one has that power over you. No matter the outside influence, you are you.

im trying to get motivated by other people’s art, not the opposite, but everytime i open an app i am flooded with so many talented artist and it’s really hard to not compare yourself w/ others and just keep drawing.
