Fichte was so ready, mentally and emotionally, to be shitposter of global caliber. Only the infrastructure was missing back then. Well we got instead like ten versions of the Wissenschaftslehre.

It's as if this can be understood as a symptom of a society that's too exhausted to deal with its own affairs, on all scales from the tiny to the grand, and is ok having this horror roller-coaster that is our current timeline running on its own, on AI slop fuel and pattern recognition.

Otoh, while these machines were invented to raise productivity, replace labor etc, not few proud owners of labor power are eager to voluntarily outsource all sorts of their abilities, from writing love letters to copy editing to who knows what else, to the machines.

Namely, I don't have strive towards acquiring a proper cultural taste, I can have the machine compute it out for me, I don't have to be able to text with someone romantically and bear the ambivalences, I can just have the machine compute the best choice, etc.

I would say something like MEW40.564 to 567, the part after quoting Faust and Shakespeare's Timon of Athens. Sort of a cheap shot, but one plugs "compute" wherever Marx writes "buy/sell", one has a proto-argument, because the same drive towards alienated externalization seems to be at play.

Hm, the whole thing of doing x without knowing x mimics Marx's point about the social power of money from 1844. Perhaps there's a possible critique of the social use of LLMs there

Should we perhaps think about organizing a reading group of some sort to get through this humongous oeuvre? Seems intimidating enough as it is!
