It’s easy to feel like you’re failing if you aren’t following a perfect training program or calendar. But here’s the truth: Fitness isn’t all-or-nothing.

As a fitness professional, if the option is to sacrifice an hour or 2 of a sleep to make sure you get that workout in OR shift your workout to another day? No brainer! Shift your workout.
Getting enough sleep is more important.

I don’t share transformation pictures. I don’t ask clients for transformation pictures. I stopped complimenting people on their weight loss years ago. Why? Weight loss is not always synonymous with health or health promoting behaviors.

We can’t fight the patriarchy and systems built to keep us quiet if we are underfed. Diet culture works to keep us small and ‘weak’. Eat the foods pick up the heavy (for you weights), increase your heart rate in a way you enjoy (or tolerate) and keep going 🩵

Shame and guilt aren’t tools for lasting health changes. Real progress comes from self-compassion, curiosity, and celebrating small wins. Change happens when you believe in who you’re becoming—not by punishing who you’ve been. #HealthJourney #SelfCompassion

Had a follow-up with my medical provider, and we talked about Vitamin D supplementation and potentially adding some Magnesium to help with absorption and some sleep issues I have been. She said, “not the citrate, unless you need help pooping.”
Citrate = 💩
Glycinate = 😴

Over 40? Yes, lifting “heavy” 2x a week is health promoting behavior that has exponential benefits as we age AND “heavy” is relative to YOU and your training experience and access to equipment.

I am a personal trainer and nutrition coach and I believe using shame, insecurities, and fears for profit is bullshit. We’re all about compassion, empathy, curiosity, and kindness over here.

I am a personal trainer who doesn’t have her clients weigh-in, take measurements or send transformation pictures. Why? Because fitness and health are more complex that then size and shape of someone’s body.
