Not really here. Threads: purplegeekgirl I promise I haven't forgotten about you all. We can make it through this, right? Right.
So I am literally never here, and I'm trying to spend less time on social media & limit my social media footprint a bit. If you are on insta/threads, that is about the only place I am. Purplegeekgirl.

Follow me, let me know who you are, all that. Miss our glory days.

Just popped in to see if someone had posted about something, they had. Lol.

I am basically only on threads now: purplegeekgirl over there. But not all of you lovely people from the old place are there and I miss you.

Hope everyone is hanging in there. 💕

In the past 2 years I saw people for the last time. People I knew I was seeing for the last time (although in some case I didn't anticipate how little time they had left or that I wouldn't be talking with them again.)

I never took the time to truly say goodbye.

I know it takes a lot to put yourself out there on the internet, particularly in videos.

But I need to offer a rather strong critique.

If you are going to lipsync, you MUST over exaggerate your mouth movements. You can not just "speak" regularly. It does not look right.

I am more broken out at the moment than i have been in a number of years. I can't even remember when, in fact.

I had forgotten how painful it is.

I'm very over it.

I'm almost 43 for crying out loud! Lol

Every so often, I think back to the first Christmas we were married & how I sent out 100 Christmas cards. I was going to be a Christmas Card Person. I have never sent them out since. Also, I printed out baby announcements for the first 2 kids, and I still have those.

Rest in Peace, you amazing and admirable man. This country did not deserve you. You left the world a better place than you found it, may we all follow that example.

Just saw an Instagram claim that in 1905, 80% of Americans had met their spouse at a dance.

I haven't verified the claim, but that is absolutely wild if true!

Whether true or not, I think the culture of the dances that used to be the norm seems rather great. Clubs have never really appealed.

My teen wanted to buy shoes. She has money but not a credit card. I double-check where she is getting them from, Nordstrom Rack, cool cool.

Well, there was a card error twice. So I look. Not Nordstrom rack. Weird scam site. So froze my card and will order a new one tomorrow.

Sigh.

Not since childhood when it was "when will Christmas ever get here?!?" And even when Christmas break started, it was still "Christmas is soooooo far away!" And Christmas Eve morning, "I can't possibly wait that long, it is taking forever!"

Life moving slower was nice.
Every year, people say "I can't believe it's already Christmas." Has there ever been a year when everyone could believe it was already Christmas

Maybe I’m an old crusty guy but I don’t really want an “AI revolution” in science or conservation. Like don’t we all realize we should slow down a bit? Science is not just about producing new knowledge as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are not just little knowledge producing drones.

Does anyone else kind of wish they would have named their kids differently? Like, not that you truly dislike their names or anything but that you think you could have done a better job or that your criteria wasn't the right one?

I need Christmas movie recommendations. I really like "Last Christmas", "Love Hard", "Christmas Spirit", "Princess Switch" "White Christmas" "Prep and Landing" "Phineas & Ferb Christmas", oh and "Die Hard". You get the idea. A bit of everything. What are your favorites?

Where are the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future when you need them?
CEO Barry Litwin told corporate employees Friday…that Party City is “winding down” operations immediately and that today will be their last day of employment. Staff were told they will not receive severance pay, and they were told their benefits would end as the company goes out of business.

Statistically speaking, if you are a dude in America, its likely that one of your friends has committed SA in one way or another.

These people are in your circle, influencing the way you talk, think and react to issues of SA.

That’s why listening to women, really listening, is so important.

Begging people not to smoke in public. Enjoy yourselves elsewhere, vices are fantastic (I have plenty). But there are too many health conditions that are very seriously impacted by smoke.

just thinking seasonal, festive thoughts about how in 1843 Dickens trusted readers to clock that “poor people should be grateful prisons will house them, let them go ahead and die if they don’t like it” was immediate villain shit, and now the GOP’s whole platform is like “maybe Scrooge made points”

My kingdom for a Christmas themed romance novel that is more complex than a Hallmark movie. Don't get me wrong, those movies & novels have their place & I often really enjoy them. It just isn't what I want at the moment.

"Sweet" romance is fine, but a bit more *not* fade to black is preferable.

Maybe I’m too much of an optimist, but I believe that at least some of the new arrivals here are acting like jerks because you had to on Twitter.

New friends, you don’t have to do that here. And if you do, it doesn’t generate hate-clicks that boost your engagement. You just get blocked.

100% vividly remember the crash of PanAm 103.

I have the vaguest tendrils of memory of The Challenger. I was at my grandparents when it happened, but didn't see it live. Just remember that I knew something bad happened in space.
What’s the first major news story your remember as a child?

Mine is OJ Simpson

I had 2 twitter accounts, a NSFW one and one by this name. I decided to deactivate the NSFW. Wrote a nice little post to tell my mutuals how great they were and where to find me.

And then *immediately* deactivated, forgetting that they wouldn't see the post.

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Oh well I guess.

My 13yo does his own laundry, because he is 13 & I'm raising full humans. Sometimes, though, he obviously needs a little guidance. Like this morning, he couldn't find a clean sock. So he put one sock into the wash.

One. Sock.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I had him pause the wash & gather the rest of his dirty clothes
