While making roll tables for my horror ttrpg, The Decay: Survival Horror Roleplaying, I decided to make d70 tables (d6+d10). But the way the numbers on the dice work out...I made d69 tables. 🤦

#ttrpg pro tip: When you need a bunch of names for npcs on the fly, google a long running show and open the cast tab. Every character in my session tonight had a name without missing a beat. Just maybe try to choose a show your players might not be familiar with.

Oops, All Draculas by Jessica Marcrum. I picked this up at a con based on the title alone. You all play as different incarnations of Dracula and do Dracula shit. If you're not sold already, you never will be.

Urban Shadows 2e by @magpiegames.bsky.social . This one is sitting right at the top of my "play me next" pile. I love the idea of WoD, but super dense lore and so-so mechanics have kept me at bay. This is more my speed with blended groups of creeps, and a mostly blank canvas for world building.

Crown & Skull by Runehammer. A host of very unique mechanics going on here. Items and skills as HP. Mapless dungeons. Deep customization. Runehammer always has 1 foot in the past 1 in the future. He's been a huge inspiration for me.

Savage Worlds by @peginc.savageworlds.social.ap.brid.gy . It's not necessarily a game, but rather a toolkit to build exactly the pulp action game you want. Horror, sci-fi, swashbuckling, you name it. If you're willing to put the work into it, the return on investment is unquestionable.

Mazes by @level99games.com . An old school feeling dungeon crawler where you only ever roll 1 die, and everyone's die is different. "It can't be done!" someone probably said. And yet it is a masterwork of sticking to what would otherwise be a limiting design decision + milking it for all its worth.

Blades in the Dark by @johnharper.bsky.social . Another game I've played a whole bunch of and don't see myself getting sick of it anytime soon. I doubt I have anything new to say about BitD, but it is just my speed in terms of rules and narrative wiggle room.

Break!! by @greywizard.bsky.social . I haven't got the chance to play this one yet, but it might be the most visually stunning, impressive book I've got. The art is crisp + vibrant. The layout is brilliant. It's even got die rolls on each page so you can flip open at random if you don't have dice.

Another out of print work by @cambanks.bsky.social . The learning curve is a little steep for my tastes, but once you get this baby running it really hums. This game pulls off the difficult feat of running games with heroes of mixed power levels without leaving anyone out in the cold.
