I think a lot of Americans like these centrist pundits are conditioned to think calmness is civility and that tone matters more than substance, and would not last a month in the kind of culture where people will subtly drag you to your face in a way that sounds excruciatingly polite on the surface.

Oh man, I bet there is so much DOE equipment from excess in that lot! I have to admit, I was recently in one of the NLV lab buildings that had two large wire containers filled with old laboratory and electrical equipment for excess and I was seriously debating whether to smuggle some to my cube.
