Hmm, that part I don’t know but it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s definitely a partnership with Amazon still. Doesn’t work for every book, but when it does you can get a “digital library loan” through Amazon and then it just downloads to the Kindle.

I had to look up when I got mine. 2015 - Paperwhite 3 (7th gen). Still works great. Definitely went through a period where I didn’t use it, but then I discovered Libby and the ability to put library books on it. Non stop use ever since!
