I make games and read books - no AI - trans rights are human rights - what we do in life echoes on in eternity
For everyone who’s upset that there are Asian and Latino actors in Nolan’s film: the odyssey didn’t really happen and these stories have their own history of being reshaped by storytellers and portrayed by all types for the stage.

It’s been a while since I watched Pompeii and I think I’m due for another viewing.

What I remember, aside from Kit Harrington’s abs, is that the movie stuck to its premise and had major characters consumed by the eruption. I respect that.

Russel Crowe as “the Spaniard” in Gladiator…he’s from Australia 🇦🇺

Local area man suprised to discover that historical figure Xerxes wasn’t actually a 9 foot tall demigod who commanded demons. #Sparta #frankmiller #threehundred #truefacts

This happened to Gladiator (the thumbs up bit does bother me) and the Spartacus series as well.

People who go to mass entertainment for the education their school failed to pass on are doomed to fail. We don’t hold film and tv responsible for that. Let’s have fun at the movies again. 🍿

Too many history focused accounts are either racist or too pig headed to admit that movies and shows about mythology do not have to perfectly recreate parts of history we still don’t know enough about.

Can we please invite some normal people to the table?

I’m convinced that any comic which tries to do something interesting is cursed to be hated by Internet personalities. God forbid a piece of fiction exaggerate the events of history. Ancient sagas certainly never did that…now let me tell you about Romulus and Remus being raised by a wolf mother

I understand that the internet is a platform for free speech, but there should be a tier system for people who know what they’re talking about above those who don’t.

Don’t drag Frank Miller or 300 into your illiterate circlejerk.

The Star Wars expansion for Destiny 2 is tempting me back after more than a year without the game.

My favorite unused Gladiator 2 premise is Maximus being sent to hunt rogue gods and becoming immortal for all time. It’s so deranged that audiences would never forget the experience.

If we wait another 5-8 years Aaron Taylor Johnson could play Maximus. Someone call Sir Ridley Scott.

Gladiator 2 is an odd movie. The first 3/4 of the film are solid action set pieces and attractive people waxing poetic about fate and the senate.

But the minute that Pedro Pascal leaves the plot, the story rushes into a messy final act.

It can’t compete with the original, but I was entertained.

This is a funnier gag than any marvel movie

While Clash of the Titans might be a cheesy flick, Wrath of the Titans stands as a movie I can defend and always enjoy.

Sam Worthington has better hair. The gods have better costumes and writing. The plot is both simpler and more fun. This movie looks leagues better.

It’s a fun mythic adventure!

I won’t pretend that 2010’s Clash of the Titans is a flawless movie or that it escapes the shadow of the original film.

But the blend of practical effects and going all in for crazy mythic set pieces is quite charming. What was considered bad 15 years ago beats most modern blockbusters.

It may offend some to know that I prefer the sequel to 300 more than the first movie.

The Spartans felt too cruel and alien to me [by design, the movie says they’re pretty bad] and Eva Greene is the best villain. Both are epic sword and sandal adventure movies.

Thank you Frank Miller. 🎞️

I got my Starz plan specifically for this series. I’ve been rewatching the original show in preparation.

Using the fates and Roman afterlife to explore new stories is a stroke of genius!

The 2011 movie Immortals feels like a stage play, which might have put off some viewers. It’s a fever dream of Greek mythology reimagining by the unparalleled Tarsem Singh.

If you want spectacle, this movie is worth your time and attention. #movies #mythology #cinematography

A Jason Momoa Conan the Barbarian remake 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘴 perfect in theory. But in execution, I had more fun watching the Rock’s Scorpion King.

House of Ashur has me so stoked that I’m creating a ground-up tabletop system for my group to do gladiator battles.

It’s largely D6 based so far and takes inspiration from For Honor and Hades, but with mathematical probabilities instead of button mashing.
