Last book was a dud. The new one is MUCH better! I'm switching between written and audio, such a classic Gothic vibe. Now I'm listening to this incredibly tense scene, our heroine feels she's going mAaAadDdD, and the crisp night air gloves along my legs and freshly moisturized forehead. Delicious!

The ottoman has become a hotly contested bit of territory. Sweet Spice is doing her best to ignore the sun for such primo warmth.

I don't think I like any of the characters in this book but they're compelling and I low key hope they suffer a bit more.

I always get a little thrill when I'm reading some horror or a thriller and MYCOLOGY gets involved! A hint of hyphae does it for me.

Self care takes many forms

My adventures in self-care consisted of getting a vaccine at end of Thurs so I can enjoy feeling like crud today. I overcooked pancakes, checked email, fell asleep multiple times to escape headaches, read and listened to books, and played games. Good job, me. Future-me will appreciate this.

It turns out trauma doesn't care if you believe in it or not, it's there. I spent so much of my young adulthood being told that my pain wasn't real, my challenges dismissed. I spent so much energy trying to force myself to be okay. It's muscle memory and takes forever to unlearn.

I used to follow scientists, historians, researchers, writers, teachers, and more back before Twitter ate itself. I'm glad to have found many of them are here. Time to build my algorithm.
