NICE! Man, this thing had quite the beefy soundchip for its time and place. If your dad has any Phillips SAA 1099 chips still lying around I'll take them off his hands. 😂 It's kinda crazy that I'm discovering this stuff for the first time in my 40s. I would have loved Chuckie Egg as a kid.

😂😂😂 This is actually part of British computing history! I'm writing for the Sam Coupé. I've never seen this computer IRL but the PSG for it is insane. 6 channels, twice as many as the 3 channels most chips had at the time. FM synth chips kinda sunk this thing but it was in the Soundblaster 1.0

oh you know I LOVE Furnace! Kinda wish it exported formats that were a little more functional on OG hardware for some chips, but yeah, this is a constantly developing project that has been a boon for chiptune composers.

Yikes! Well, at least there's sound. Not good sound, but sound nonetheless. I guess with a lower pitch and the hardware envelope the channel just disappears altogether.

Yeah, as soon as I wrote that I realized I'm a bit slow because I took a look at my other cards, the SN76489 and your SID, and they all have clocks on them. The Revision 5 AY-3 is the only card like this, thank God, and you already fixed it, so game on 💪

Would getting the Dual Clock module solve any of these problems? I got a few more soundcards I haven't even tested yet (the SN76489 requires the backplane pro, which just came in stock yesterday). I'm hoping this isn't going to continue being a problem 😬

Here it is with the original, default setup in all of its bass-less glory, proving my accusations are not baseless. The ZXTT saved my butt on this project, so thanks my man. If you figure out why this is I'm all ears. The original Arkos Tracker YM file is configured to the 1.73400 Speccy frequency.

When I get home from work I'll put the original chip in and make a vid. I don't get why it does that but I did have to convert my YM file to MYM. That might have something to do with it? For whatever reason the original chip couldn't handle it.

If you want proof I can make the video. Without ZXTT none of my tunes work. I still have to revamp some stuff and, perhaps, change the tracker I'm using (which sucks because Arkos Tracker is the best, period), but right now it's looking pretty good. Working on a new tune as we speak!

Thanks so much! I went nuts because not only was it out of tune, but I also can't name a single AY tune I've written where I didn't use the hardware envelope. Without the ZXTT the entire channel gets ignored if I use that command. Oof! You saved me on this one.
