My nesting partner was isolated for 20 years and his ex told him if he left she would ruin his chances to have a relationship with his parents/family after. Thank god he did leave, and now has a beautiful relationship with his fam. And even has friends!
Abusers will often isolate you so they can lower the risk of having to suffer the consequences of their own actions if you fail to protect their horrible behavior from the eyes of others.
