William Desmond is stepping down from the Cook Chair of Christian Philosophy at Villanova. I’ve been at a few celebrations with him recently, and I’m so grateful to have had him with us, mentoring students for the last 20 years. He’s one of the greatest living philosophers, I think.

Late to the party, maybe, but just finished this. Hard to overstate how many times I’ve heard this book invoked by young Black scholars… it’s a powerful book that opens up a stance or a consciousness more than an argument. What does it mean to « live in the wake »?
